Why Adding Electrolytes Might Be What Your Daily Routine Is Missing

Let's start by defining electrolytes. Electrolytes are essential minerals that conduct electricity in your body. This electricity helps give power to some of your body's most important functions such as hydration status, nerve signaling, pH balance, and muscle contractions. The main electrolytes our bodies use include sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, chloride, and bicarbonate.

You lose electrolytes naturally through sweat and other detoxification processes. Other life situations can cause further  electrolyte loss and adding electrolytes might be the key to help you feel amazing.

You may benefit from adding electrolytes to your daily routine if you experience one or more of the following symptoms.

-brain fog

-muscle cramps

-muscle weakness

-dry skin

-unquenchable thirst

-difficulty sleeping

-fatigue

-dizziness

Quick note here, if you are experiencing one or some of the following above please take time to discuss with your doctor as these are messages from your body to you that something may be off internally.

Other situations that could benefit from adding electrolytes:

-intense sweat sessions at the gym

-intense stress (whether it's a daily occurrence or a stressful season of life)

-sickness (especially if you have diarrhea or are vomiting)

-in a healing phase of life (mentally, physically, or emotionally)

-breastfeeding or postpartum period

-hungover

You can boost your electrolytes by adding certain foods and beverages including leafy greens (seriously is there anything leafy greens can't do??), avocado, oranges, bananas, grass-fed milk, chicken, turkey, coconut water, or electrolyte powders.

TLDR; Electrolytes help you feel awesome by helping your body carry out important functions. You may benefit from electrolytes if you don't feel your best, are experiencing certain unwanted symptoms, or depending on what season of life you are living. You can easily boost your electrolytes by adding certain fruits, veggies, and proteins or certain beverages such as milk (grass-fed is best), coconut water, or electrolyte powders (go for the ones with monkfruit or stevia and not a lot of sugar to avoid spiking your blood sugar and causing other issues).
